The Lt. JC Stone 50K Ultramarathon has a new race! The Lt. JC Stone Trail 50K (aka Stone Trail 50K). That's right, we are taking this show into the woods. The Trail Ultra will feel real familiar to those who have run our Road Race. We will start with a 'short loop' of approximately 5 miles, and then three loops of about 9 miles each, for a total of 50K. If you run the NP Trails, then this may make sense to you. The course will encompass all of the RED Trail that goes over the RIDGE the short way (about 3 miles) and the RED/BLUE Trail that snakes around the front of the RIDGE (About 6 miles). The course will be extremely well marked, there will be 2 fully stocked aid stations and one unmanned water station, and there will be pizza and beverages at the finish line. The t-shirts will be pretty cool, and the medals will be epic. Be ready to run and have some fun!
REGISTRATION FOR THE JC STONE TRAIL 50K is available on-line. There are only 30 spots available. The cost to register now is $50.00. There are no other on-line registration fees, just $50. The registration fee will increase to $60 on July 1 and $70 on September 1. CLICK ON THE CAMO HAT and REGISTER NOW!
DATE: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2016
START TIME: 7:30AM IS WHEN THE RACE WILL START. Check-in and registration will start at 6:30AM.
END TIME: RUNNERS WILL HAVE 9+ HOURS TO COMPLETE THE COURSE
PACKET PICKUP: RACE DAY ONLY, AT THE STARTING LINE
WHERE IS THE START?: WYOMING PAVILION IN NORTH PARK (ON THE RIDGE - DIRECTIONS ARE BELOW)
Please note that this race supports a charitable organization (The Rotary Club of Hampton Township). In the past we have supported the idea of deferrals for registered runners. This turned out to be a bad idea. 2015 was the last year that we will allow for deferrals. There are no deferrals.
Directions to the Start:
1. From Rt 79. Exit at Rt 910 and head East on Rt 910 to the intersection of Pearce Mill Road. Turn right onto Pearce Mill Road. You are entering North Park. Continue approximately 1 mile. Turn Left onto North Ridge Drive. Continue approximately 1.5 miles. Look for Washington Grove. Wyoming is the very next grove, and they share a parking lot. Wyoming grove is set back from the road. There will be signs so that you know a race is taking place!
2. From PA Turnpike East. If you are traveling from the East, take exit 4 (Butler Valley) and head North on Route 8 for 200 feet to the first stop light. Turn Left at the light and continue for about 4 miles. Turn Right on to Wildwood Road and continue for approximately 2 miles. Turn Right onto Babcock Boulevard and continue for approximately 500 feet. Turn Left onto Pearce Mill Road. Continue for 150 yards and bear right heading up North Ridge Drive. Continue for approximately 2 miles and Wyoming grove will be on your left.
The course will start and end at the Wyoming Pavilion. The markings on the course are permanent markings on trees along the trail. The course is very well marked, and all turns will be marked with JC Stone 50K Signs. Here is what you will see: There is a 3 mile section of the course called the RED Trail. Red paint on the tree will let you know that you are on the right trail.
There is a 6 mile section of the course called the RED-BLUE Trail. Red square with a blue circle in the center will let you know that you are on the the right path.
These two trails (RED and RED-BLUE) are connected by a short section of trail that is RED-YELLOW. Good news about this connector trail is that there is an aid station at the junction, and the aid station workers will make sure you are on the right path. You will come down a hill on RED heading to the aid station and then will follow RED-YELLOW for about 200 yards up a hill coming out of the aid station, and pick up RED-BLUE.
I will be adding additional details to the website. You can email me with questions, and I will get back to you. firstname.lastname@example.org.
